Are You Looking to Grow Your Social Media Audience Successfully?

In order for your social media marketing to work you need to know your audience. You need to be clear on who your target audience is and how your business can help them. Once you have established this you can plan and conduct a targeted growth strategy for your business. It’s worth remembering that you’re competing with other brands in your industry, so don’t be afraid to research your competitors, see what they are doing successfully and replicate this for your own business.

I am going to provide you with some tips to help you start to grow your social media audience online, across all social media platforms.

Set Your Target Audience

To get the ball rolling you need to be clear on who your target audience is, what demographics are they; are they old, young, male, female etc. Are you targeting your local audience, national or international audience?  What social media platforms are they most likely to use; Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, Youtube? Being clear on who your target audience is will allow you to know where to prioritise your posts and content and what to include to engage them.

Provide Engaging Content

You need to provide content that people want to see and engage with, to ensure that your business posts appear on your audiences feed. To assist with this you need to create a marketing plan. Make sure your marketing plan shows the content you will publish across your social media platforms, then analyse these making sure they’re relevant and engaging for your audience. If you post irrelevant content this will make your audience and followers uninterested, which could result in your audience decline instead of growing.

Setting Goals

A good strategy in any areas of business is to set goals. In this case, setting goals for for your social media’s audience growth is a great way to keep on top of and measure your progress.

Setting goals allows you to see when your audience growth and interaction drops so you can see where and when to improve. In addition to showing when it has increased, so you can analyse what worked well so that you can replicate your success, in order to grow your audience further.

If you’re unsure where to start with setting goals for you social media growth, as most of you may know using SMART system is always a great guide and structure to use. SMART is an acronym for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely. Following the SMART approach will allow you to set appropriate goals and then measure your progress from those goals.

Overall, remember to focus on engagement, engage with your audience. Make your posts are inviting and captivating. Having engagement with your audience allows you to build relationships with them, which therefore makes them loyal and favourable towards your business. Provide relevant content on a regular basis and in a variety of engaging formats such as; polls, blogs, quotes, videos, testimonials and promotion of services. Keep measuring your goals to assess what to do best to grow your audience.
